Marillenknödel

July 2012

In an intimate and authentic environment, at her home, my grandmother Rut Scheuer tells her life-story.
While cooking traditional Czech apricot-dumplings, which we will later share with the audience,
we talk about her rich personal experiences, sketching in vivid colours a typical local history.

Our only device – a cooking timer – allows us seven minutes for every decade of her 88 years-long story.
Backwards we go in time, excavating forgotten moments in the different periods of life and reinvention.
And when the bell rings, time is simply over; leaving the untold to the imagination, to a later moment
that might come, or might not.

The event took place in the framework of the In-House Festival in Jerusalem, a site-specific
performance festival in different private houses in the city.
